Bean North Coffee Roasting Co. Ltd.
Founded in 1997, Bean North Coffee is an organic, fair-trade roastery nestled in the northern boreal forest of the Yukon. Rooted in ethical sourcing, sustainability, and a deep connection to the North, the brand brings a little Yukon magic to every cup.
Working closely with owner Christine Pellegrin, I led the redesign of Bean North’s packaging, creating a cohesive visual identity inspired by the winter landscapes of Whitehorse. The project included packaging for the core coffee range and premium selection, supported by individual labels to distinguish each blend and product variation.
The illustrations feature a caribou and a female character, capturing the spirit of the North while celebrating the brand’s heritage. The caribou represents the signature Bean Caribou blend, created to raise awareness of the Porcupine Caribou herd and its calving grounds in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
The Limited Edition premium lot series features a sophisticated black, white, and gold label design highlighting the coffee’s region of origin, elevation, producer, and variety. The packaging illustration showcases a coffee plant with raw coffee cherries, evoking the country of origin and celebrating its agricultural heritage.
Sustainability was central to the design, with bags printed on Biotre 3.0+ substrate, a compostable material developed to reduce environmental impact without compromising quality.
The result is a distinctive packaging system that unites northern storytelling, brand identity, and environmental responsibility.
